Go Green

Greener Cleaner exists because cleaning your home should not cost the planet anything. Every product we make is moulded from 100% recycled plastic, and 1% of every sale goes to organisations protecting our oceans and coastlines. Here is what that means in practice.

Every purchase gives something back

We are a member of 1% for the Planet, a global network of businesses and non-profit partners committed to environmental giving. Membership is certified, so the commitment is audited rather than self-declared.

1% for the Planet certify that 1% of our sales go to protecting our oceans. In the UK we donate to Surfers Against Sewage, who tackle plastic pollution and protect the British coastline.

That 1% comes off the top of sales rather than out of profit, so it happens every year regardless of how the year has gone.

We're delighted to be working with Greener Cleaner through 1% for the Planet. They produce fantastic products that will also be raising vital funds to help us keep the UK's coastal environment beautiful for everyone.

Plastic and our oceans: the facts

The scale of the problem is what drives the way we make things.

12.2mtonnes of plastic enter the ocean every year
80%of marine plastic comes from land-based sources
500years or more for a single plastic bag to degrade
14%of all plastic produced is recycled
1:1projected ratio of fish to plastic in the ocean by 2050

How Greener Cleaner cares for the planet

Plastic is the largest man-made pollutant on the planet and it is damaging life in the sea. Our products are made from plastic that has already been used, keeping it in circulation and reducing demand for new single-use plastic. Less new plastic produced means less of it reaching the ocean.

Recycling is one of the key components of a sensible approach to materials. The reduce, reuse, recycle hierarchy is what we are built around, and it is what allows us to improve our footprint on the planet meaningfully rather than cosmetically.

Recycled content across the range is independently verified through the Global Recycled Standard.

Eco-Flek: challenging what eco-friendly means

Open sea under a clear sky

It is a common misconception that being eco-friendly means either a compromise on performance or a more expensive product. It really does not have to be this way.

Ecologically sound cleaning products do not need to cost more. They do not need to clean less well. They can be better than any non-ecological brand on the shelf.

Eco-Flek is the recycled plastic technology we developed to prove it. It delivers genuine value for money with no compromise on performance, while reducing the amount of single-use plastic in circulation.

Our guiding principles

We are always looking for new and better ways to help, constantly designing, developing and offering products that meet three principles.

Quality and performance

Every product has to clean at least as well as the ordinary alternative. If it does not, it does not ship.

Kinder to the environment

Made from recycled material, built to last, and designed so one purchase replaces many.

Listen, think, innovate

Customer feedback shapes what we make next. If you have an idea, we would like to hear it.

Clean greener, starting today

The simplest way to reduce single-use plastic at home is to switch the things you replace most often. A microfibre cloth that cleans with water alone removes the need for sprays and disposable wipes. A brush that lasts years replaces a shelf of cheap ones.

Common questions

What does 1% for the Planet membership actually mean?

It means 1% of our total sales, not profit, is given to approved environmental non-profits every year, and that the amount is independently certified. Businesses cannot self-declare membership. In the UK our donation goes to Surfers Against Sewage.

What is Eco-Flek?

Eco-Flek is the 100% recycled plastic technology developed by our eco-experts and used across the Greener Cleaner range. It was created to answer a specific problem: recycled plastic has a reputation for being weaker, and Eco-Flek was engineered so that recycled material performs as well as new plastic in a cleaning tool.

Are Greener Cleaner products recyclable at the end of their life?

The plastic components are recyclable through standard household collections. Because the products are built to last years rather than months, that point arrives far later than with an ordinary brush.

How does using microfibre reduce plastic?

Our microfibre cloths clean with water alone and are machine washable up to 100 times. One cloth removes the need for repeat purchases of disposable wipes and the spray bottles that go with them, which is where a large share of household cleaning plastic comes from.
